McDonald’s lovers fume as popular item soars 112% amid cost of living crisis

And it’s even having an impact on our fast food favourites.

McDonald’s fans have been shocked to see a dramatic price increase on the breakfast menu in particular.

Hash browns – which previously were marked at £1.39 when prices froze last July – are now coming in at £1.49, according to the McDonald’s app.

But some fans have said they were as much as £1.89 when ordered via Just Eat.

It’s even more noticeable considering hash browns cost just 89p in 2019.

That’s already a 112% increase over the last few years.

Naturally, fans have recently shared their disappointment and frustration over these soaring prices – but also their worry that there could be a potato shortage soon.

Taking to social media, Nat said: ‘At this point it’s cheaper to buy a bag of them from the shops.

‘I remember in 2013 they were 75p and I really don’t understand, even with inflation, how they’re over a quid with how popular McDonald’s is globally.’

While another described the increase as ‘daylight robbery.’

It’s worth pointing out that McDonald’s raised the price of other items earlier this year. The Mayo Chicken rose from 99p to £1.19, the biggest single jump of 20%, while the Bacon Mayo Chicken went from £1.59 to £1.79.
