The Spanish Bishops Conference punishes a priest who married an author of erotic novels

The former bishop of Solson, Xavier Nouvel and Goma, who married the author of erotic novels, was suspended from the sacrament for four months and also banned from service.

And the Spanish Bishops’ Conference established the punishment for breaking the vow of celibacy, which all Catholic priests must observe for life.

“This means that although Monsignor Xavier Nouvel and Goma retain the title of bishop, he cannot perform any of the functions associated with this title. Accordingly, he is prohibited from performing rituals or participating in any educational activity, whether public or private.

Xavier Nouvel and Goma previously stated that he married divorced writer Silvia Capalol out of love. The marriage took place on November 22.

The priest is also known for his very conservative stance on abortion, his support for reparative therapy for homosexuals, and his public support for the movement for Catalan independence.
