Gas prices rise above $1,400 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since October

 

At an auction on December 14, the price of gas futures for January exceeded $1,400 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since October 6, according to ICE stock exchange data.

The price of gas futures in Europe at the opening of trading increased by 5.95% compared to yesterday’s value ($ 1329) and at the opening of the trading session the price of futures contracts was $ 1462, and later decreased slightly – to $ 1443.

Gas futures prices for January in Europe continue to rise. At the end of last week, they consolidated above $1200.

On December 8, gas futures exceeded $1,200 per thousand cubic meters. The trading session opened at the beginning of the day at about 98 euros per megawatt-hour, which is equivalent to 1162 dollars per thousand cubic meters.

The absolute record is considered to be gas futures prices on October 6, 2021, when more than 1,900 dollars per thousand cubic meters were presented.
