Brother of North Korean founder Kim Il-sung dies at 102

 

Kim Yong-ju, the younger brother of the founder and first president of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Il-sung, has died at the age of 101.

Pyongyang’s state media confirmed his death. The cause of death and its exact date were not reported.

The current leader of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kim Jong Un, has expressed his condolences on the death of Kim Jong Un.

Kim Young Jo, born in 1920, was an activist in the Korean independence movement. After Kim Il-sung came to power, he held a number of leadership positions. In particular, he headed the influential Organization Department of the Korean Workers’ Party, but in 1973 he was replaced by Kim Jong Il, the son of Kim Il Sung.
