UAE suspends negotiations to buy F-35 fighters from the United States
The United Arab Emirates has informed the United States of the suspension of negotiations on the purchase of F-35 fighters.
The UAE has informed the US that it will suspend discussions on acquiring the F-35.
Technical requirements, sovereign operating constraints, and cost-benefit analysis led to a reassessment.
According to a spokesman for the UAE authorities, discussions on the supply of the F-35 may resume in the future, as “the United States remains the preferred supplier of advanced defense technology to the UAE.”
Earlier, the French company Dassault Aviation signed a contract with the United Arab Emirates to supply 80 Dassault Rafale fighters.
The contract, worth approximately 17 billion euros, includes the purchase of 12 Airbus Helicopters H225M multi-purpose helicopters.
