Johnson & Johnson vaccine may be banned in the US due to blood clots

Experts from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will evaluate the possibility of restrictions on the use of the COVID vaccine from Johnson & Johnson due to the risk of blood clots.

In April, vaccine use was already limited when there were cases of blood clots in vaccinated people.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices will be provided with new data that appears to show that the incidence of blood clots in people who have received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has increased since April, although the problem remains rare.

The publication reports that from December 2020 to August 31, 2021, there were six deaths among people vaccinated with the J&J vaccine. It is noteworthy that the company provided during this period 14 million doses of the vaccine.
