NATO invites Russia to a meeting about Ukraine

Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said during a press briefing that NATO representatives have handed over to the Russian authorities a proposal to hold a meeting within the framework of the Russia-NATO Bilateral Council on Ukraine in January 2022.

“Now, in practice, how to do this is being considered,” said the head of the Information and Press Service of the Russian Foreign Ministry. We have received this offer, I can confirm it.

According to her, Moscow is ready to conduct a direct dialogue with NATO on the proposed draft agreements on the country’s security. She noted that the activities of the Russian mission to NATO had previously stopped.

Zakharova noted: “The format, modalities and timing of a possible meeting within the framework of the Russia-NATO Council should be determined taking into account all these circumstances. But, as I said, we are open to dialogue.”
