WHO warns of ‘tsunami’ of new cases of COVID-19

The head of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the omicron and delta strains of the coronavirus could lead to a sharp jump in coronavirus cases worldwide.

Gebresus pointed out that the World Health Organization is recording an increase in the number of people infected with Omicron and Delta.

“This could lead to a tsunami of COVID-19 cases that could dramatically increase pressure on health systems around the world,” he warned.

The head of the World Health Organization called for eliminating health inequalities between developed and developing countries – otherwise there is a risk of new variants of SARS-CoV-2 that can bypass Covid restrictions. In addition, it is happening against the booster vaccinations of the Corona virus in rich countries, which can leave the poor without vaccinations.
