Google faces a fine of millions of dollars

On January 17, the Tagansky District Magistrate’s Court will consider a new protocol against Google for its repeated refusal to remove content banned in the Russian Federation.

The IT giant faces a fine of up to 5 million rubles. At the same time, at the moment, the total amount of fines is already in the billions of rubles.

On December 30, Google paid fines of 8.5 million rubles. The bailiffs forcibly collected such an amount after the company refused to remove the information prohibited in Russia.
With regard to Google, several enforcement actions have been opened, only one of which has not been terminated. It is connected with the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court to exclude the use of the phrase “smart voting” in search results by the company.

Earlier, the Moscow Magistrate’s Court found Google guilty of repeated violation of Russian law and imposed a fine of more than 7.2 billion rubles on the company.
This figure was calculated by the judge from the data provided by Roskomnadzor about the amount of annual revenue of the company.
