Military helicopter crash in northern Israel

An IDF helicopter crashed off the coast of Haifa.

There were three crew members on board the helicopter, rescuers pulled them out of the water.
One crew member sustained moderate injuries and was taken to hospital.
The hospital said he was initially placed in a trauma unit, then moved to an intensive care unit for further examinations.

It is not yet clear what happened to the rest of the crew.

The military said the wrecked AS565 Panther Eurocopter took part in an exercise.
This helicopter model is mainly used for naval missions, where it can land on missile ships of the Israeli Navy.

Authorities said the helicopter crashed “due to a malfunction, not an attack”.
