The new strain of the Corona virus “deltacron” has preserved the mutations that were in the ancestor of the Omicron

Epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko has assessed the new type of coronavirus, Deltacron, which is a mixture of the “Delta” and “Omicron” strains.

According to him, variants of the virus cannot interact with each other, “evolve and start a fight” with people, and not among themselves.

“Most likely, we can talk here about the fact that the mutations that were in the ancestor of the omicron have been preserved,” Onishchenko said.

He added that it will be possible to find out whether the new strain is very dangerous only after experts from the World Health Organization study it.

Earlier, it became known that a new type of coronavirus infection was detected in Cyprus, which is a mixture of Delta and Omicron strains.

The discovery was made by a group of local scientists working in the Laboratory of Biotechnology and Molecular Virology at the University of Cyprus.

Researchers have named the new strain of COVID-19 the Deltacron
