French parliament proposes to start withdrawing from NATO

Michel Larive, a member of the French National Assembly from the Insubdued France party, approached Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian with a proposal to start withdrawing from NATO.

Michel Larive drew the attention of the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs to the need for France to withdraw from NATO, the only unified military alliance in the world.

He noted that since the end of the Cold War, NATO has entered into a large number of conflicts around the world, while the results of these conflicts have not brought security to France or to the rest of the world.

Larive believes that France is not at all interested in joining an armed bloc directed against China and Russia. On the contrary, “France is interested in speaking its own voice.”

In addition, the politician noted the leading role of the United States in NATO and attempts to integrate European armies into a US subordinate structure.
