8 effective drugs for the treatment of “Omicron”

The scientific journal Cell Research, referring to the results of a study conducted by scientists from the University of Kent and Frankfurt, mentioned eight antiviral drugs that are the most effective in combating the Omicron strain of coronavirus.

Experts examined cell cultures and found that this variant of COVID-19 is sensitive to the most important antiviral drugs and drug candidates for treating coronavirus infection.

These medications include EIDD-1931 (the active metabolite of molnoperavir), remdesivir, ribavirin, favipiravir, PF-07321332 (nirmatilvir, the active ingredient of baxlovid), camostat, navmostat, and aprotinin.

The scientists also discovered why patients with Omicron were less likely to develop serious illness. This is due to the fact that this type of coronavirus is especially sensitive to suppressing the so-called interferon response, which is present in all cells of the body.
