The Lebanese army succeeded in rescuing more than 60 trapped people

The Lebanese army succeeded in rescuing 60 people on the Rashaya – Hasbaya highway in southern Lebanon who were trapped by heavy snowfall.

The army came to the rescue from the nearest border post, Kafr Meshki. They cleared the way, took people to a warm shelter, fed them, and then helped them go home.

13 people were injured in the accident. They were transferred to the army barracks.

Two hail hurricanes Hiba and Jasmine hit Lebanon one after the other. The temperature fell 6-7 degrees below normal. Rolling snow blocked traffic along the strategic Beirut-Damascus highway, which runs through the Dahr El Baidar Pass.

Dozens of children from snow-covered Syrian refugee camps in the Bekaa Valley and on the eastern ridges of the Lebanese mountains have been hospitalized due to the high temperature.

While the mountains are covered with a record amount of snow, heavy rains fall with thunderstorms and hail in coastal areas, accompanied by hurricane-force winds with gusts of up to 24 m/s.
