Xinjiang Uyghurs open after 4 years of closure –

According to the South China Morning Post, China has agreed to open Xinjiang. The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, will visit Xinjiang.

The United Nations and China agreed that this would happen after the Winter Olympics in China ended. At the same time, Bachelet’s visit will be a “friendly visit” – the UN official will not have the right to conduct investigations or interrogations.

Negotiations with Beijing to visit the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, where about one million Uyghurs are held in camps, have continued since 2018.
