A woman infected with HIV carries 21 new mutations of corona viruses…..

An HIV-positive woman in South Africa has been infected with the coronavirus for nine months. During this time, her body accumulated 21 new mutations, according to a study by scientists from the universities of Stellenbosch and KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, published on the website of the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).

It is noticeable that a resident of South Africa has not received adequate treatment for HIV for a long time.

The scientists found that a 22-year-old woman with uncontrolled progressive HIV had a beta variant of SARS-CoV-2 for 9 months, while the virus accumulated more than 20 additional mutations.

The woman passed a coronavirus test in January 2021, and tested positive. She was admitted to a Cape Town hospital in September, where doctors determined she had had COVID-19 for at least nine months. The patient managed to get a negative test only at the end of November.

Also, since January 2021, the woman has not received regular HIV treatment, and treatment was resumed after her hospitalization. As a result, ART suppressed HIV and eliminated SARS-CoV-2 within 6-9 weeks.

The study authors believe that severe immunosuppression associated with uncontrolled HIV infection can lead to chronic infection with SARS-CoV-2, as well as the accumulation of mutations and the emergence of new types of the virus.
