Spices that help reduce cholesterol and blood pressure

A study conducted by the Department of Human Nutrition, NWFP Agricultural University, found that three spices are particularly beneficial in combating “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and high blood pressure.

Type 2 diabetics took six grams of cinnamon for 40 days, and scientists noticed changes in blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Experts compared the levels of “bad” cholesterol (LDL) and “good” cholesterol (HDL) – in those who took cinnamon, according to the results of the study, LDL levels improved. However, experts note that a dose of six grams of cinnamon is more than what people usually add to coffee.

The study also examined the benefits of ginger in lowering blood pressure. It turns out, only three grams is enough to significantly reduce stress.

The third spice that scientists have studied is black pepper. It contains the chemical piperine, which has powerful anti-inflammatory properties.
