Israel prevents the Baltic states from supplying Ukraine with weapons

According to Breaking Defense, Israel has prevented the Baltic states from supplying Ukraine with any of its weapons.

According to sources in the Ministry of Defense, the State of Israel prevented Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania from transferring Israeli-made weapons to Kiev, including Spike anti-tank systems.

Eldad Shavit, a senior fellow at the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies, said that Israel intends to maintain good relations with Russia, which may contradict the US administration’s policy, “especially if a decision is made to significantly increase diplomatic and economic sanctions against Russia.”

The article also notes that while Israel maintains political relations with Ukraine, it has not sold any weapons to it in the past decade.

The Baltic states ordered Spike’s anti-tank weapons through Eurospike GmbH, a joint venture between Israel’s Rafael, Germany’s Diehl Defense and Rheinmetall.

The author of the article wrote that Israel is interested in good relations with Russia to be able to move in Syria and cut off the supply of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah.
