Le Pen vows to withdraw France from NATO

Right-wing National Rally presidential candidate Marine Le Pen believes that France needs to get rid of the logic of military blocs and leave NATO.

“We must freely defend our interests, get out of the logic of military blocs … Therefore, we will leave the unified command of NATO so that we do not succeed in being drawn into the struggles of others,” Le Pen said.

Le Pen also promised to reform the European Union, and replace it with the European Alliance of Nations, if elected in the April 2022 presidential election.

“In this world inventing new cold wars, France must make sure that its strong and independent voice is heard, especially through its diplomatic seat on the Security Council… In Europe, we are reforming the European Union to replace it with a European one,” she explained, adding that the Alliance of Nations added That the new unification will be “on the basis of the sovereignty of the peoples.”

During the speech, voters were shown video messages from politicians from other countries who support Le Pen. Among them are representatives of Austria, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal and Hungary. Republican candidate – center-right Valerie Pecresse, Reconquest party leader Eric Zemmour, French leftist unconquered party leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon, Euro-Eco-Green member Yannick Gadot, party national secretary. Communist Party Fabien Roussel, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo and former French Minister of Justice Christian Taubira.

Le Pen expressed a similar position regarding NATO during her previous presidential campaign in 2017, at the same time promising to increase the country’s military spending to 3% of GDP.

France was one of the countries that laid the foundation for the formation of the alliance.
