Detection of a new mutated strain of the Corona virus “Deltakron” in Britain

British epidemiologists have reported the emergence of a new mutated strain of SARS-CoV-2 virus. According to the Daily Mail, elements in the virus have been found to be present in both the Omicron strain and the Delta strain, which has been dubbed deltacrone.

It is assumed that the mutation originated in a person who was infected with two strains at the same time.

However, experts suggest not to panic, since there are very few cases of infection with the new strain, and the general population has already partially formed herd immunity to both Delta and Omicron.

Professor Paul Hunter of the University of East Anglia said: “Of course, no one can predict everything with certainty, but at the moment I am not too concerned.”
“So in theory, it shouldn’t pose much of a threat.”

At the same time, the World Health Organization warned earlier that the COVID-19 pandemic is still far from over and new dangerous strains of the virus are likely to emerge.
