Gay activist appointed as Biden’s nuclear waste disposal assistant

Gay activist and “nuclear nerd” Sam Brenton announced his appointment as US President Joe Biden’s assistant to nuclear waste disposal, on Twitter.

Sam Brenton calls himself a transgender and is involved in promoting the LGBT community among young people.

“I have accepted an offer to serve as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Consumer Fuel and Waste Management in the Department of Energy’s Nuclear Energy Administration,” Brenton wrote.

He noted that he was the first “gender flexible” person in the federal administration.

According to Brinton, he was appointed to this position because he has the appropriate education and experience in nuclear waste disposal activities.

Brenton has master’s degrees in nuclear power engineering and mechanical engineering and taught at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

His previous positions in the US administration have included advising the Obama administration on LGBT issues and advising Congress on nuclear policy.
