Thousands of postal ballot papers canceled in the US

Several thousand ballot papers sent by voters in the congressional midterm primaries were invalidated. for failing to comply with the new registration rules.

According to the Voter Identification Act, adopted at the initiative of former US President Donald Trump, who was afraid of mail fraud, only ballot papers with a voter identification number on the envelope are recognized. However, not all voters who prefer voting by mail meet this requirement.

According to Reuters, in Harris County of 4.7 million people, about 35% of mail-in ballots have been invalidated. Now the electoral commission staff is trying to rectify the situation and prevent disruption to the voting process, scheduled for the end of February.

Midterm Congressional elections are scheduled for November 8, 2022. In total, candidates from 435 constituencies will run for the House of Representatives, who will be elected in the primaries.
