Russian payment cards stop working with Apple Pay and Google Play services

Payment cards of a number of Russian banks that have fallen under Western sanctions will stop working with ApplePay and GooglePay services

According to the Central Bank of Russia, the banks are VTB, Sovcombank, Novikombank, Promsvyazbank and Otkritie.

It should be noted that customers of these banks will not be able to pay with their cards abroad and use them to pay for services in online stores and service complexes registered in countries that support anti-Russian sanctions.

Also, the cards of these banks will not be used with ApplePay or GooglePay services, but the standard connection or contactless payment with these cards is fully available throughout Russia,” the Central Bank said.
