11 dead, 400 injured in Indonesia earthquake

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit the island of Sumatra in Indonesia. At least 11 people were killed.

According to the Guardian, more than 13,000 people have fled their homes and are currently staying in temporary shelters. After 1,400 homes were damaged and destroyed.

“The earthquakes were felt even in Malaysia and Singapore,” said the official representative of the Indonesian Emergency Management Agency, Abd al-Mahari.
“About 400 people were injured in the earthquake and about 42 people are still receiving treatment.”
