Macron announces his candidacy for French presidency

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to announce his candidacy for the presidential elections on March 4, according to France Info radio.

The regional press will have to receive Macron’s letter, which will be published. Thus, he will officially inform the French of his intentions. After that, the incumbent president formalizes his candidacy to the Constitutional Council.

Earlier, the candidate for the presidency of France, represented by the right-wing National Rally party, Marine Le Pen, announced the suspension of her active election campaign. She said she lacked “a little more than forty signatures” from French deputies to run for president.

The presidential elections in France will take place in April and will take place in two rounds – on the 10th and 24th. Applicants must complete the registration procedure by Friday.
