Saudi Arabia carried out the largest mass execution ever

On Saturday, Saudi Arabia executed 81 people convicted of various crimes, including premeditated murder and aiding militants.

The authorities said that some of those executed were members of al-Qaeda, the “Islamic State” and supporters of the Yemeni Houthi movement. the rebels.

The Saudi government said in a statement. “The accused were given the right to a lawyer. Their rights were also fully guaranteed under Saudi law. At the end of the trial, they were found guilty of many heinous crimes that led to the death of a large number of civilians and law enforcement officers.”

“The Kingdom will continue its strict and consistent policy against terrorism and extremist organizations that threaten the stability of the entire world,” the statement said.

The last mass execution in the kingdom was carried out in January 2016, when 47 people were executed in the kingdom in one day, including a prominent opposition Shiite cleric who organized demonstrations in the kingdom.
