Sputnik V proves its effectiveness as the world’s first effective vaccine for individuals infected with HIV

The Russian drug Sputnik V against COVID-19 has become the world’s first vaccine to be proven effective in HIV-infected individuals.

According to the results of research on the data of 24,000 patients with HIV in Moscow receiving antiretroviral therapy. The analysis showed that the effectiveness of the drug among HIV-positive individuals is 79%. At the same time, the effectiveness against hospitalization exceeded 90%, and for cases of the medium and severe course of the disease more than 97%.

Russia has become the first country in the world to register a vaccine against COVID-19. The drug was developed by the National Aesthetic Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology with the Russian Direct Investment Fund and was named Sputnik in. Subsequently, EpiVacCorona, KoviVac and Sputnik Light vaccines were registered.
