NATO backs investigation into killing of Russian prisoners in Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the alliance supports an international investigation into all events in Ukraine, and that no war crime should go unpunished.

Earlier, a video circulated on the Internet of the execution of a dying Russian prisoner of war. One of the dead had his hands tied behind his back, indicating that the soldier died in captivity.

Stoltenberg, when asked about the killing of Russian prisoners of war in Ukraine, said that war crimes cannot and should not be ignored.

“Any war crimes are unacceptable,” he said, “but I have no information about this particular video and this particular incident.”
