Peskov: Russia is preparing to face sanctions a year before its announcement

The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said in an interview with Sky News that the country began preparing for the current sanctions a year before they were announced.

We have been living under sanctions for two decades and we are already used to this situation. We started preparing for these sanctions a year ago.

According to him, the situation in the Russian economy at the present time is “difficult”, but it is “still on its feet”.

Earlier, Dmitry Peskov said in an interview that Russia suffered great losses during the Ukrainian crisis. He also confirmed that Mariupol will be liberated.

Before that, Peskov noted that the decision on the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the upcoming G-20 summit will be taken based on the development of the situation. Western media reported that the United States and a number of Western countries tried to persuade Indonesia, which chairs the Group of Twenty this year, to prevent Putin from participating in the summit of the political club or to condemn what is happening in Ukraine.
