1 dead, 6 injured in oil tanker fire in Hong Kong

One person was killed and six others were injured in an explosion on board an oil tanker in eastern Hong Kong.

One of the victims sustained burns on 30% of his body. Two others suffered burns to the face. It is not yet known how many crew members were on board at the time of the accident. According to the South China Morning Post

The government sent a plane and two rescue helicopters to the site of the accident.

According to the newspaper, the tanker Chuang Yi, registered in Panama, is located about 300 kilometers from Hong Kong.

On February 25, a chemical tanker sailing under the flag of Moldova came under fire in the Black Sea. Reportedly, the tanker Millennium Spirit, which was in the neutral waters of the Black Sea, was hit by a shell.

A fire broke out on board the ship and the equipment and lifeboats were destroyed. The crew left the tanker wearing life jackets.
