Archbishop Savva (Totonov) of Zelenograd announced that a fire had broken out in the Orthodox Church of Saint Seraphim of Sarov in Paris.
It is noted that the dome of the skeleton of the temple has been preserved. At the same time, the Parisian newspaper wrote that the building and icon set were completely burnt out. Firefighters managed to evacuate three priests, but there were no injuries.
The causes of the accident have not been identified, but the priority is the accidental ignition of the candles.
Totonov wrote: “This temple, dating from the beginning of the 30s of the twentieth century, was one of the famous churches of immigrants in Paris. May God have mercy on a rebirth.”
. It is known that the door to raise funds for its restoration has already been opened.
It is noteworthy that the French Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, expressed his solidarity with the parishioners.
Earlier it was reported that work to strengthen and ensure the safety of Notre Dame Cathedral (Notre Dame de Paris), which was destroyed by fire in 2019, has been completed. The structure has been prepared for restoration.
