The first case of salmonella infection was discovered due to Kinder products in Spain

The first case of salmonella associated with Kinder brand products was discovered in Spain.

The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) reported the first case of salmonellosis caused by eating Kinder chocolate in Spain.

Local health authorities are also investigating two other possible cases of the bacteria.

According to information in the latest ECDC bulletin, a total of 85 similar cases of salmonella infection have been confirmed in the EU member states: in the UK – 73, in France – 37, in Ireland – 15, in Germany – 11.

It is noteworthy that about two weeks ago, the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) began to withdraw some samples from Kinder products after news of an outbreak of salmonella disease.
