According to the press release of the European Union, in 2021, compared to 2020, the number of confirmed cases of child sexual abuse increased by 64%.
Estimating the number of such crimes depends largely on voluntary messages from services that specialize in sexual and pornographic content.
As part of new child protection rules, the European Union is proposing to require such platforms to identify, report and remove material related to sexual abuse of minors.
