Presenting the European Commission’s plan to reject energy resources from the Russian Federation, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that EU countries can increase their defense spending and reconsider their position on arms purchases.

As reported, in the coming years, the volume of defense spending may increase by 200 billion euros, and the countries of the European Union may also begin to jointly purchase military equipment and weapons.

The European Commission also decided to submit proposals to increase energy security in the European Union against the backdrop of new anti-Russian sanctions.

Before that, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, in her opinion, said that NATO, in particular, should be able to monitor what is happening in the Indo-Pacific region. According to her, close work is being done to arm Ukraine “according to NATO standards.”
