US records the first case of monkeypox

The Massachusetts Department of Health has reported a case of monkeypox.

The department explained that the disease was discovered in an adult man who had recently traveled to Canada. Initial test results were received Tuesday evening at the state’s public health laboratory, and the final test conducted Wednesday at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed its results.

Authorities are now trying to identify people who may have had contact with the patient when he was contagious. It is noted that this situation does not pose a threat to society.
