Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi accused of sexual slavery
The attorney general has accused former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi of sexual slavery and bribing witnesses.
The Daily Mail reported that the trial of the former Italian prime minister began in 2013 after accusations that Berlusconi had sex for money with 17-year-old Moroccan Karima El Morouj.
The court convicted the former minister and sentenced him to 7 years in prison, but a year later the lawyers were able to prove that Berlusconi did not know the real age of the girl.
The lawsuit against the 85-year-old Berlusconi has resumed after reports from women that he paid them for not disclosing information. Prosecutor Tiziana Siciliano claimed that what was happening there was immoral and unreasonable.
Prosecutor Siciliano said, “Paying for the witnesses’ silence with money, houses, cars, horses, every conceivable human commodity, what was happening at that time at these parties was immoral and unbelievable.”
Siciliano also called for the investigation into the death of Moroccan model Iman Fadel to be reopened. The forensic examination showed that the level of cadmium, chromium and antimony in the body of the deceased exceeded normal.
However, after a while, the prosecutor’s office refused to file a criminal case. According to the updated results of the examination, law enforcement officers came to the conclusion that the girl died of a long-term illness.
Siciliano believes that Berlusconi may be connected to what happened, as Iman died immediately after she testified against the former minister.
At the trial, Siciliano stated that the former prime minister systematically partyed, using women as “paid sex slaves”.
“The prime minister systematically used to cheer up his evening entertainment by hosting groups of slaves, who were paid for sex slaves, in his house,” the attorney general said.
Berlusconi has denied all allegations of bribery and sexual slavery.
