The G7 is working to close the financing gap in Ukraine

German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said that the G7 countries can cover Ukraine’s short-term financing needs against the background of the continuation of the Russian special operation on the country’s territory.

“We feel responsible for the ability of the Ukrainian state and its people to defend themselves, we see the billions of euros that Ukraine will need for the foreseeable future, and I am absolutely optimistic that at the G7 meeting we will be able to raise the funding that will allow Ukraine to protect itself in the coming months,” Lindner said.

According to Politico, Kyiv’s financing needs are estimated at about 15 billion euros, according to IMF estimates, Ukraine needs these funds to pay salaries, pensions and support the economy in general for three months.

From the point of view of the German Finance Minister, in the confrontation with Russia, the Ukrainian side defends not only itself, but also “Western values”, so the G7 countries should help Ukraine so that the state can “continue its function”.

Earlier it was reported that the European Union will allocate 9 billion euros to Ukraine to cover the budget deficit.
