Chicago shooting kills 2 and injures 8

An intense shooting near Loyola University in Chicago killed two people and injured eight. This was reported by the New York Post.

According to the New York Post, the accident occurred on the evening of May 19, 2022 at the 800 block of North State Street in the 18th district. At about 22.40, an unknown person shot passers-by.

The police arrived at the scene and arrested the shooter. Victims with injuries and burns in critical or serious condition were taken to regional hospitals.

The shooting took place just hours before the law enforcement torch relay was due to take place as part of the Special Olympics. Ahead of the two-week multi-state tour, law enforcement officers carry the torch during the pre-games finals in Orlando on June 5.

For now, law enforcement agencies continue to investigate.
