Seoul expels two of Biden’s bodyguards during his visit

US Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said two members of US President Joe Biden’s security guards in Seoul have been repatriated after an incident in the South Korean capital.

According to him, the management is aware of the incident, which occurred during non-working hours of employees and may represent a possible violation of personnel rules.

According to Guglielmi, these people will be immediately returned to their permanent place of work, and will also be sent on administrative leave.” He noted that the incident did not affect the White House chief’s trip to South Korea and then Japan.

Gullelmi also said that the service has very strict standards and code of conduct for all employees.

“Given that we are talking about the administrative personnel issue under consideration, we cannot provide further comments,” he added.

On May 20, Reuters reported that a Secret Service official was arrested in Seoul the day before Biden arrived in the South Korean capital. The agency, citing local police, said he was accused of assaulting a South Korean citizen while intoxicated.
