The US expresses its need to exclude Turkey from NATO –

The head of the American Analytical Center for the Middle East Forum, the historian and orientalist, Daniel Pipes, said that Turkey should be excluded from NATO because of its policy and position on joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization for Finland and Sweden.

According to a similar statement on TVP World, Ankara is practicing “blackmail”. It is trying to negotiate advantages for itself in exchange for agreeing to NATO enlargement. In addition, he has criticized all areas of the international politics of Turkey in the past twenty years.

The expert also noted that in the period from 1952 to 2002, this country was a “very good” ally of the alliance, but the last two decades had “become very bad”.

The expert said that Ankara pursues an anti-NATO policy such as Greece, invaded Syria, threatens Europe with Syrian immigrants, and buys S-400 systems from Russia.

According to Pipes, Turkey, due to its own policy and position on the expansion of the alliance, is in fact no longer a part of it.

The head of the center added: “It is time to exclude Turkey from NATO. Let him go to Russia, China and Iran. Bad luck.”

Earlier, the Turkish authorities stopped the start of negotiations in NATO on the entry of Finland and Sweden into the alliance.

Recently, Turkey actively accused Sweden and Finland of supporting the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and the FETO organization, led by the opposition preacher Fethullah Gulen, whom Ankara suspects of being involved in the 2016 coup attempt. Criticism of the Turkish side has emerged against the background of the two countries’ plans to join NATO.

Ankara undertakes to prevent Stockholm and Helsinki from entering the alliance precisely because of “support for terrorists”.
