Apple plans to buy Battlefield, Star Wars and FIFA

Video game developer and publisher Electronic Arts wanted to sell its business, and potential buyers included Disney, Apple, Amazon and others.

According to Puck, the planned deal with NBCUniversal was the most promising for EA, but negotiations reached a dead end – the two parties did not agree on a price. The developer and publisher were considering a merger scenario that would allow EA President Andrew Wilson to retain his leadership position.

As of May 2020, EA is the second largest gaming company in America and Europe in terms of revenue and market capitalization, after Activision Blizzard.

EA is currently developing and releasing games based on well-established franchises such as Battlefield, Need for Speed, The Sims, Medal of Honor, Command & Conquer, Dead Space, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Titanfall, and Star Wars, as well as FIFA games.
