Activists light smoke bombs on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival

French feminist activists Les Colleuses lit smoke bombs. On the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival.

The women, dressed in all black, raised a banner bearing the names of 129 women who have died in France from domestic violence since the last Cannes Film Festival.

The event took place before the premiere of Ali Abbasi’s The Holy Spider, a thriller that has been included in the competitive film review program.
