Poland orders six Patriot air defense systems

Poland plans to buy six batteries of the US Patriot anti-aircraft missile system. This was announced by Defense Minister Marius Blaschke, the Jerusalem Post reported.

“I signed a letter of request for the purchase of six Patriot batteries with omnidirectional radars, launchers and missile supplies,” said Blachak.

Now the Polish army is armed with two Patriot batteries. These complexes were developed in the 70s and entered service in 1982. They can hit targets at an altitude of up to 25 km and a range of up to 100 km from the control point. The cost of launching one missile is estimated at $3 million.
