Scholz: Soon Germany will have the largest army in Europe

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated, in an interview with the Neue Berliner Redaktionsgesellschaft. The country will soon have the “largest conventional army in Europe” among NATO member states.

According to Scholz , such an army would greatly enhance the security of Germany and its allies. At the same time, he criticized the position of those who do not understand why Berlin does not provide military support to Ukraine.

“We have transferred weapons and we will provide more weapons,” Scholz said, referring to the delivery of heavy weapons to Kyiv, saying, “These orders are being carried out.”

Scholz noted that the Ukrainian side should receive the Gibbard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns at the end of July. In addition, the Ukrainian military is already being trained to use the Panzerhaubitze 2000 artillery base.

The chancellor also commented on Poland’s censure of the FRG in connection with the fact that Berlin allegedly refused to transfer German tanks to the Polish army to replace the T-72, which was sent to Ukraine.

“We are negotiating with all our partners in Eastern Europe and we want to push the negotiations with Poland as seriously as we do with the Czech Republic and Slovakia,” Scholz concluded.
