WHO calls for continued LGBT Pride rallies

WHO calls for continued LGBT Pride rallies…

Andy Seal, a consultant to the World Health Organization, said those wishing to take part in gay pride parades in June should not abandon those plans due to the spread of monkeypox, which is transmitted primarily through same-sex contact.

“It is important that people who want to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride continue to do so,” said the WHO’s Global Programs Division Adviser on HIV, Hepatitis and Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

In the West, June is called “Pride Month” for the LGBT community, during which time its representatives focus on the struggle for their rights. On the last Saturday of this month, parades are held in different countries.

Monkeypox is a rare viral infection that can also be transmitted between humans. The disease is usually mild, most people recover within a few weeks, but complications can occur in some people.

Monkeypox virus has been identified in many countries of Western Europe and on other continents, in particular, in Australia, Belgium, Britain, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, Portugal, USA, France, Switzerland and Sweden.

Earlier, the World Health Organization said that the main part of smallpox cases are men who have had sex with men.
