Haiti’s bandits hold 38 people hostage…

RIA Novosti, citing the head of the Haitian Drivers’ Union, reported that two buses carrying 38 people had been hijacked by a group of gangs. Those who were in it were taken hostage.

The spokesman said that the kidnapping took place on the outskirts of the capital, Port-au-Prince. The agency notes that since last year, the Haitian authorities have lost control of the only road connecting Port-au-Prince to the south of the country. As a result, about two kilometers of the road came under the control of armed gangs.

“There were 18 people on each bus, excluding the drivers,” said the head of the drivers’ union.

He added that his agency had asked drivers to avoid driving on this part of the road until the state restores security.
