A Strange Loop Wins the Tony Award for 2022…

The musical “A Strange Loop” won the 75th Tony Awards for the 2021-2022 season.

The work participated in 11 nominations and received two awards – “Best Music” and “Best libretto”.

The Strange Loop previously won the Pulitzer Prize for Best Drama.

The main character of the musical is about – a dark-skinned gay writer who is forced to do hated work to earn money, but writes a musical for the soul.

The Lyman trilogy won five Tony nominations, including Best Dramatic Performance. The award for “Best Revival of Music” was won by the company’s production company.

Sam Mendes, director of the Lehman Brothers trilogy, also received a statuette for Best Theatrical Direction. Matt Doyle won Best Actor in a Musical and Joaquina Calango (Paradise Square) won Best Actress.

Five-Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury, 96, received the Honorary Service for Theatre.
