And the media quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin as saying that the United States continues to destabilize the situation in the Taiwan Strait and contribute to the militarization of the region.

He said the US side is hiding behind peaceful statements about Washington’s adherence to the “one China” principle.

“The biggest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait is the separatist forces in Taiwan, whose actions are supported by the United States,” he said.

Wang Wenbin noted that the United States maintains official contacts with Taipei, despite Beijing’s protests.

According to him, Washington periodically takes provocative measures to destabilize the situation in the South China Sea when it sends US Navy ships there. At the same time, he said, the White House was “trying to smear China”.

Earlier, China promised to “fight to the end” if anyone tried to separate Taiwan from the “mainland”.
