First two cases of monkeypox reported among children in the United States

In the United States, two children have been diagnosed with monkeypox, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

One of the babies is from California and the other is an infant who is not a US resident but tested in Washington.

It is also noted that the children are healthy and receiving the necessary treatment. Now experts are discovering how they can become infected. According to preliminary information, this happened through a home transmission.

Earlier, the infectious disease specialist stated that due to the reduced immunity of the mucous membrane, which is very tender in children under 16 years old, it is easier for monkeypox to enter their body.

On July 17, Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the city government would need an additional 90,000 doses of the vaccine to combat the spread of monkeypox.
