Anonymous hacks Windows 7 using a calculator

Anonymous hackers managed to hack Windows 7 using an app masquerading as the standard calculator app. This was reported by SC Gateway magazine.

The attackers used a virus called Qbot that was intentionally modified for this attack. The victim receives an email with a document in a zip archive containing the Trojan. When it enters the system, it creates a copy of the Calculator application, which the system views as the original program.

Since Calculator is a “native” utility, the operating system does not consider it a threat. As a result, the virus collects the victim’s personal data from the computer, which may include passport data and passwords to bank accounts.

It should be noted that the vulnerability exists only in Windows 7. Despite the fact that this operating system was released back in 2009, its share in the Windows market is still 11.52%.
